We are delighted to announce that our BOOBS project has been awarded more funding from NHS Salford CCG. The total funding of £14,920 is provided through the Impact Fund, and administrated through Salford CVS.
The funding will allow us to continue activities through our BOOBS (Be Open on Breastfeeding Salford) project, which provides free information and support, accessible events, and a mobile peer support service across the city. It means that we now have extended office hours, with our project Manager Rachel now working two days a week, and Project Founder and CEO Kim now working 4 days a week.
We plan on using the funding to support our volunteers to run the peer support service, where we join up with groups such as The Sling Library and Salford Sling and Meet to provide accessible 1-1 appointments for mums. We also aim to bring the number of BOOBS Approved venues up to 150 across the city, partnering with us on making their businesses completely family- friendly and helping mums feel more confident whilst breastfeeding in public. Last year, 91% of mums agreed that the BOOBS Approved campaign made them feel more confident whilst out and about.
The funding adds to our collected total from The National Lottery Community Fund which we received £9999 from in May. I am extremely proud to have received this funding and glad we are able to carry on helping mums in Salford have a happy, healthy and comfortable breastfeeding journey.
